DIY Earring Display Tutorial

This earring display could not be any easier to assemble and comes out looking top notch!
Are you tired of digging through countless earrings to give up and grab the one pair that always seem to stay together with backings?
Are you searching for the perfect, yet simple gift to make for a special lady in your life?
Look no more!
I made this earring display for my mother-in-law for Mother’s Day last year, and it was a fairly simple process.
She had a need for it and loved it!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Spray paint (your choice of color)
Sandpaper (if you’re going for a bit of a rustic look)
Frame (your choice of size and type)
Stiff plastic canvas (your choice of color)
Push pins (or nails or staples)
Hammer (if using nails or push pins)
Easel (if you want it to stand on a surface)
Here’s what to do:
In a well ventilated area, use the spray paint to turn your picture frame into the color of your choice. Use as many coats as you find necessary and follow the drying directions on the can.
Once dried, use the sandpaper to scuff it up a bit and give it that “rustic” look, if you so choose.
Turn the frame over so the back is exposed.
Cut the plastic canvas to the size of the frame, making sure it will not show past the outside border, but will be long enough past the opening to secure tightly on the frame.
Carefully pin the plastic canvas into the frame. I tried a staple gun at first, but it wasn’t working as I intended. So, I grabbed some push pins and slowly pushed them in and tapped them gently with a hammer to secure them in place.
Finally, decide how you want to display your earrings. Against a wall, it would be hard to get your hand behind the display to remove the backings holding the earrings to it. So, I decided to prop this one up on an easel so my mother-in-law could easily access the backings to remove her earrings or securely reattach them.
As soon as she opened her gift, she organized her earrings!
